Record Board Success
The Record Board is working! We weren’t fifteen minutes into our first meet after the record board was erected, and I noticed swimmers running over to the record board after a successful swim checking to see they’re time would put them on the wall. I’m still working on the new records to update the record board, but over the summer we had over 17 records broken in the (12 & Under) age groups and new records set in the 13&14 age groups.Good Job Swimmers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2006 Summer ARPA Season Summary
Unbeaten in Dual Meets & Many Medals at State
I thought the swimmers had a very triumphant 2006 Summer ARPA Season.  JST was unbeaten in their DUAL Meets and the win over our arch rival Sheffield was sweet.   We did have to settle for 2nd in both the TVC Championship and District Championship due solely to our lack of swimmers in the 13-14 & Senior age groups.  Although we finished 2nd to BPR in their lopsided win over us at District, we sent THIRTY-THREE swimmers to their FOUR to compete in Dothan at the State Swim Meet where our success continued.

On Saturday at the completion of the State Meet, I sat in the Lobby along with the other swim coaches waiting on our swimmers awards.  Every few minutes a representative from the Dothan Swim Team would emerge from the room and announce a team’s name and a coach from that team would come and retrieve a small white bag containing their awards.   On two occasions more than one bag was handed to a coach.  I know this because Jasper was second to the last team announced.  The Madison coach and I were the only coaches to leave the lobby with two bags completely full of awards.  I felt PROUD, proud of our swimmers!  In the individual events, Jasper Swim Team accumulated (4) Gold, (5) Silver, (6) Bronze & (27) 4th-8th Place Medals; that’s 42 Metals!  In the Relays, we left with (5) Silver, (5) Bronze & (2) 5th Place finishes.  Congratulations to Jim Trotter, Hannah Studdard, Andrew Harris & Joseph Daniel on those GOLD Medals! JST Swimmers & Coach Competing in First Triathlon
Eight of Jasper's finest swimmers including their coach will be competing in the "Tri-It-On" triathlon held in Birmingham on May 27th. They will be competing along with 300+ other triathletes ranging in age from 9 to 72. The course is a 200 yard swim, a 8.5 mile bike followed by a 2 mile run. According to Coach Jeff, the swimmers or in this case triathletes, are ready. The short swim will be a breeze for them, the bike to run transition will be a little tough, but they should all finish around the 1 hour mark. Triathletes competing are Charles Odle, Matthew Kennedy, Joseph & Andrew Harris, Hannah Studdard, Kelsey Woodman, Mallory Maloy, Anna Nicholson & Coach Jeff. Wish them luck and tune in next week to find out how they fared.
